Five notable debunked theories:

Flat Earth Theory: The belief that the Earth is flat rather than spherical has been thoroughly debunked by centuries of scientific evidence, including observations of lunar eclipses, satellite imagery, and explorations of space.

Phrenology: This theory proposed that personality traits could be determined by the shape and size of bumps on the skull. Phrenology gained popularity in the 19th century but was later discredited as lacking scientific basis.

Alchemy: The medieval belief that base metals could be transmuted into gold and that a philosopher's stone existed, capable of prolonging life indefinitely. Modern chemistry has shown these ideas to be unfounded.

Lamarckism: This theory, proposed by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, suggested that organisms could pass on traits acquired during their lifetime to their offspring. However, it was replaced by Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection, which better explains the mechanisms of inheritance.

Piltdown Man: A hoax in which fabricated fossils were presented as evidence for a previously unknown early human species. The hoax was exposed in 1953 when chemical analysis revealed the fossils were a composite of modern human and ape bones.
